The building of the Floristic Centre will be located in Żerniki Wrocławskie, a satellite town on the south-eastern side of Wrocław, on a fairly large plot neighbouring the future extended provincial road and railway infrastructure. It is surrounded with a chaotic building development, in which pre-war villas and railway facilities intermingle with newer buildings, often creating the impression that they were created without suitable permission. Owing to the existing environment, as well as local land development regulations, the designed building could cover no more than about 20 percent of the investment area. The key design problem was to develop a clear system of spatial plot arrangements, involving both the newly designed building and possible future ones. Such arrangement action was particularly important with respect to the existing environment, and was, apart from the functional plan and the Client's preferences - decisive for the building's form. The Client intended to create a building providing perfect conditions for training purposes and enabling the preparation and sale of floral centerpieces, some of large dimensions. Therefore, the building combines didactic (workshop, seminar hall) and commercial (florist's) functions. The basic functional plan is supplemented by a small hotel, social facilities and offices. |
