The idea to revitalize the area intended for development was born from the natural need of people who wished to live their life in a well-organized environment. Anger and protest against the mess which took root over the years of communist rule in Poland emerged at first. Soon after, the concept was created, and the fervour to bring the concept to reality followed. Users, and the course of events were more important for the entire undertaking than the architect, who only assisted and channelled the vision, skilfully stimulating the fervour and cooling excitement about exaggerated requests, and did not hinder the process. Obviously, the architect finally designed the building, but this fact was the culmination of the discussion rather than the fulfilment of the architect's vision.

Thus, the initially simple task, like the adaptation of a ruined edifice for the current needs of the school, using the minimum budget and measures, gave the origin to the concept to create an entire recreational and sports complex, which would response to the educational needs and match well with the dynamic development of the entire city, stabilizing its shape and filling its structural skeleton.

The first step in the implementation of this concept was the modernization of a building that formerly housed the Institute of Husbandry for the needs of a junior high school. The second step was much easier. The sports hall was built as the first part of a sport-recreational project, supplementing the educational function. The main part of the hall was moved inwards the plot to avoid the hall's domination over the junior high school building. The lower part of the building, housing additional rooms for warm-ups, fitness, hall, toilets, showers and cloakrooms, created the frontage line of the street, and the almost hundred meter long monotonous block was balanced with full double-sided glazing of the entrance hall. The exterior of the building corresponds with the existing local industrial architecture. Interiors were designed to match the simple form of the sports hall. The soft combination of colours was counterbalanced only in a few places by accents of large pictograms and wall-graphics. Simple, individually designed pieces of plywood furniture remain in harmony with the building's aesthetics.

Another extension stage of the complex has been completed. Simultaneously, finishing work over a multifunctional sports field, racetrack, playgrounds, open-air fitness, pond and park are in progress. The nearest future investment plans involve the construction of a football field with training facilities and a large water reservoir for recreational purposes. Now nobody is smiling in disbelief when future plans are mentioned: a swimming pool, a stadium with bleachers, a market. And this is how quietly a city grows, step by step.
