The next transformation stage in Siechnice, started in the 1990s, is supposed to be the creation of the representative town centre, located at the crossing point of the main urban axes. The main element of the newly designed centre will be an elongated public square following from the church to a lower secondary school building, limited on one side by a strongly developed frontage line with typical commercial facilities (shops, services and offices), and on the other side - multifamily residential buildings with commercial spaces in the ground floor. A modern building housing local administration offices will be placed in the middle of the square. It will create a central point within the public space of the square, and be a clear visual and height dominant feature. The town hall building will divide the square into two parts of different natures: a representative part from the side of the church and a recreational part, with more greenery and small architecture elements on the side of the lower secondary school. Within the recreational part of the square there will also be a parking space, partly covered with an amphitheatre-like slanting slab, suitable for open-air events. Commercial buildings creating the main frontage line along the square will be connected with the town hall building by a suspended walkway. The ground floor zone will be recessed here, creating arcades to protect the extensively glazed commercial spaces. |
