Following the Client's expectations, the design was focused on a cost-effective concept of a residential house with an intimate character. The building block was designed as a cuboid covered by a the double-pitched roof, owing to relatively small dimensions and the oblique location of one wall, which was determined by the course of the designed neighbouring road, and provided the building with a characteristic 'hewn' shape. The building houses only six apartments, which allowed individual treatment of each one. Consequently, window openings create a unique composition on the facades and each apartment has an individual internal arrangement of rooms. All the apartments and the loft space with private facility rooms are accessible from one staircase. The building was finished with simple materials such as coarse-grained mineral plaster, steel sheet and wooden slats. |
