The principal design objectives for the building were focused on compatibility in the highly individual spatial context of the street, a limited project budget and an 8 month completion period. This led to a simple and clear spatial planning form, directly corresponding with the surrounding buildings, as well as a highly disciplined interior arrangement and the minimum of building materials: white, coarse-grained plaster and titanium-zinc metal sheets outside, and white plastered interior walls, light industrial wood flooring and roof fascia boards, which are also the facing of the roof slopes. Objectives implemented in practice have led to the elimination of all unnecessary elements: excessive communication surfaces, walls, binding joists, lintels and doors. Consequently, the design also offers long visual perspectives and an arrangement system of spaces separated by various levels and lit with continuous lines of windows. |
